One particular shop had this timber box in it, I picked it up, opened the lid, touched the wood, smelt the timber, it has the most beautiful smell, that was it I HAD to have it, although it was completely out of my budget, I knew if I did not buy it I would regret it for ever, I even slept on it and bargained with myself that if it wasn't there the next day I wasn't meant to have it...well the next day it was still there, noone else had claimed my prize and it now sits pride of place on my sewing table with all my precious items in it.

Happy Birthday Mum
I couldn't find any placemats in the right colour, green is Mum's favourite, so I made my own using Canson cardboard. Instead of making placecards I used scrapbooking letters on the placemat. A very inexpensive table setting that looked great.

My son, the artist
It seems Jack who turned 7 in February, has become obsessed with drawing, any spare moment when he isn't outside playing with his friends you can find him sitting at his desk drawing. He draws these lovely little creatures, all different ones, some are from a book about drawing that I gave him for Christmas, some have come straight out of his imagination. I will cherish this beautiful piece of paper forever.

cushions galore
My poor blog has been somewhat neglected due to the fact that I have so many orders and not enough hours in the day, it's a little nuts actually.

We also had a lovely few days away camping for Easter at a great place called Neurum Creek Bush Retreat, we have been there many many times and it never disappoints, it's extra beautiful at the moment because of all the rain we have had.
Here are a few orders I have completed, I hope the children that received them loved them as much as I loved making them.

tomorrow!
Is market day. the launch of Little Star Designs "at home market"...it's finally here, there isn't much more too do except a few little finishing touches.
I'm so excited, I've waited a long time to be able to do this and I can't wait for my friends and family to see what has kept me so busy these past few weeks.
Getting to make all these things have been so much fun. It will be interesting to see what people are excited about and I have a feeling it will be the buntings and cushions, because they are my favourite things, we shall see!

bunting fun
I didn't realise how much fun buntings are to make! and how awesome do they look, they would certainly brighten up any room or party.
Anyway now I have to think of ways to use it all up so I've come up with these personalised buntings, it's so thick, like canvas that it falls beautifully and I only need to use one layer and cut it with pinking shears, looks great.

Facebook Competition
I'm having a little giveaway over on my Facebook site, why not join in the fun?
When I get 200 fans I will draw a random name and that person will win one Little Star product of their choice. So spread the word! The only catch is you have to go to the discussion section and tell me what your favourite thing so far is (or maybe something you would really like me to add to my product list) Thanks! Love Amanda

It's been an apron kinda day
Today was spent making these cute little girls half aprons (they actually fit a 3 year old or 13 year old, the apron just gets shorter as their legs get longer!), and I must say I am so pleased how they turned out. My favourite is the green and pink one using Sandy Hendersons 'farmers market' fabric, I love it! I also have an obsession with red spots and can't get enough of them at the moment.
It was actually very exciting making these as finally I worked out how to gather using my overlocker, I hate gathering with a passion and I can't believe after all these years I figured it out and it was so easy. If you want to know how leave me a message and I will do a little tutorial for you :)
