tomorrow!

Is market day. the launch of Little Star Designs "at home market"...it's finally here, there isn't much more too do except a few little finishing touches.

I'm so excited, I've waited a long time to be able to do this and I can't wait for my friends and family to see what has kept me so busy these past few weeks.
Getting to make all these things have been so much fun. It will be interesting to see what people are excited about and I have a feeling it will be the buntings and cushions, because they are my favourite things, we shall see!

bunting fun

I didn't realise how much fun buntings are to make! and how awesome do they look, they would certainly brighten up any room or party.

I ordered 20yards...yes 20 yards! of denim from the States and now I have to find something to do with it as it ended up being the wrong weight (don't ask but I am very very cranky with the supplier #1 it's not what I ordered #2 the postage was ridiculous and they were meant to tell me BEFORE it as sent #3 I will NEVER use this supplier again, it was the 1st and last time).
Anyway now I have to think of ways to use it all up so I've come up with these personalised buntings, it's so thick, like canvas that it falls beautifully and I only need to use one layer and cut it with pinking shears, looks great.
pretty pink swirls, spots & stripes.

Facebook Competition

I'm having a little giveaway over on my Facebook site, why not join in the fun?

When I get 200 fans I will draw a random name and that person will win one Little Star product of their choice. So spread the word! The only catch is you have to go to the discussion section and tell me what your favourite thing so far is (or maybe something you would really like me to add to my product list) Thanks! Love Amanda

It's been an apron kinda day

Today was spent making these cute little girls half aprons (they actually fit a 3 year old or 13 year old, the apron just gets shorter as their legs get longer!), and I must say I am so pleased how they turned out. My favourite is the green and pink one using Sandy Hendersons 'farmers market' fabric, I love it! I also have an obsession with red spots and can't get enough of them at the moment.

It was actually very exciting making these as finally I worked out how to gather using my overlocker, I hate gathering with a passion and I can't believe after all these years I figured it out and it was so easy. If you want to know how leave me a message and I will do a little tutorial for you :)

Bibs

A friend of my sister in law had a little baby boy yesterday and she wanted to give a gift that was a little bit different, so I come up with these bibs, I cut the pattern off a bib that I already have here and they turned out great, thinking I might have to add these to my market stall :)

Getting ready for my market day

I've been sewing up a storm...shorts in the cutest fabrics ever, nappy & wipes wallets, more pencil rolls, plus keeping up with Made It orders and you know what? I'm LOVING it.

I still have a list a mile long, more shorts, I've got a stack more boys fabric here and a whole heap yet to arrive, little girls skirts, maybe some cute aprons, drawstring "whatever you want to put in them" bags, treasure bags, zippered pouches and I'm sure lots more, I've got stacks of ideas.
The nappy & wipes wallet fit a travel wipes case & 2 toddler nappies or 3 newborn.
They have contrasting fabric inside and a button and elastic closure.

Yum! Vege Fritters

I just had to post this recipe, it is delicious , it's meant to be for the kids, Sam loved them, but today Adrian and I had them for lunch too with a little bit of sweet chilli on top, so yum!
Such a great way of getting them to eat their veges.

Vegetable and Bacon Fritters
1 small carrot, grated
1 small zucchini, grated (squeeze out excess moisture)
small tin corn kernels
1 tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
1/3 cup grated cheese
2 rashers bacon, chopped
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup plain flour
3 teaspoons vegetable oil

Combine carrot, zucchini, corn, parsley, cheese, ham, eggs and flour in a bowl. Mix together.

Spoon tablespoons of mixture into frypan with a little oil.

Cook for a couple of minutes each side until browned.
