Market Day date is set!

I will start freaking out now, the date has been set for my "at home market" Little Star Design business launch it is in exactly 32 days. I have ALOT to do. I'm waiting on some fabric to arrive from the States, I've ordered a stack of cute boys fabrics and denim cause I can't get it here, lets hope it's the right weight and colour!

So excited! Ok I better get sewing....

My Sewing Space

I finally have my room just the way I want it (for now, somehow it keeps evolving), it's so nice to have a nice tidy room, one that I want to spend all my time in. Adrian says I love that room more than him haha...well maybe just a little bit ;) I would sleep in there if it could fit a bed.

All my bits & pieces where they belong at arms reach

My fabric stash which is going to grow next week when a whole new stack arrives , I can't wait!

Our old tv cabiet, I've removed the doors so everything is easily accessible

the view from the entry door, during the day the light is amazing through the lourve windows

Yes, I do have a little obsession with buttons :) I just can't help it.

How times have changed

I was thinking today how much has changed since 2004 when I first started Little Star Designs.

I was doing the same cushions then, and hand embroidered ones and sadly had to go back to work and my sewing went on the back burner for a while.

There was no blogging, no Etsy, no Made It and definitely no Facebook, I'm not even sure I used Google then.

All I had to rely on was Ebay and my very simple website that I made myself and word of mouth the old fashioned way.

I used to sit at the kitchen table and sew and would have to pack up after every session otherwise we would have no where to eat, at one stage I got sick of that and put our camping table in the bathroom with all my sewing gear on it, that was desperation lol, now I have a sewing room.

I had no overlocker, everything was zigzaged or french seamed.

and it never occured to me to buy fabric anywhere other than Spotlight, now I only buy awesome beautiful fabrics from overseas.

I wonder what will have changed in another 6 years time?

Bugger off mozzies!

I am so going to make some of these, how cute! The mozzies are so bad here in Coolum at the moment that I will fill them with citronella candles and have them hanging all over my deck. Love it! This week I will be cooking with lots of things out of tins!
You can get the tutorial here so you can make your own

Sewing Saturday

I was lucky enough to spend the day in the sewing room...I made 4 personalised pencil rolls and have started on a couple of cushion orders. These pencil rolls are gifts for nieces and nephews birthdays throughout the year and I've also posted them in my Made It shop for custom orders.
Zoe keeps asking me why I'm not making anything for her and why I am making things for strange people (strangers! lol) I told her that I have to make things for my shop so I can buy more pretty fabric for her, this seemed to pacify the situation!

More Cushions

I thought while I was on a roll with the name cushions, I may as well keep going, I have had this red and white fabric for ages and decided to turn it into cushion covers for my couch, love how they turned out.

I woke up this morning to my very first Made It order, not bad considering I only opened my shop 2 days ago. I have to make a new baby girl a cushion, her name is kind of long so some tweaking of the lettering size is needed.

gotta love cushions

I have to say, I'm loving making my cushions again, and after only a couple of days I have had quite a bit of interest, very exciting!

This is the one I made today using all my favourite fabrics.
They can be found in my Made It shop :)

My shop is open!

I've bitten the bullet, I've opened my Made It shop, there are only a few things in there at the moment, but I will be adding new products every couple of days. I'm so excited about this, it's been a long time coming and has taken me ages to actually get up the courage and stop procrastinating, sadly I am the worlds greatest procrastinator, not so when I am making something for someone else, but when it comes to actually doing something for ME then I'm a shocker. Here's to a great and very exciting 2010!

Finally some sewing goodness.....

So I'm all settled back into the house, the sewing room is set up, I've quit my day job and now have all the time in the world for sewing and getting Little Star up and running.

I've spent a fair bit of time in the sewing room over this past couple of weeks, getting stock organised, trying to figure out what I am actually going to sell and perfecting my designs.

There have also been gifts to be made and a couple of things for the house.

still in love with this fabric, I have been working on this new pattern
some cute little nappy covers

a new library bag for Jack, these will definitely feature in my store
